Toyota, a Japanese auto-mobile manufacturer launched its pick up truck in 196 named Toyota Hilux which was also called Toyota Pickup in the United States. Its a very old vehicle and since then seven generations of the truck have been introduced with the seventh generation coming in 2005. Continuing the trend, a new 2016 Toyota Hilux is expected to set afloat in the coming year.

Firstly, the truck would now be now be available globally unlike the recent Hilux which was only obtainable in selected markets. Also the new model would be more powerful, spacious and fuel efficient. From the exterior the truck is now taller, wider and longer and would be made on a new platform. The head lights and tail lamps have also been redesigned. Some changes in the interior have also been made like new material used in the dashboard, automatic climate control, audio system and a touch screen with cameras for parking assistance. Other this there would be no more changes in the interiors of the vehicle.

Now the most essential part, the 2016 Toyota Hilux would be driven by a new 2.8 litre V8 engine which would produce 160 horsepower with beyond 300 lb-ft of torque. This means that it would have more torque but comparatively less power. It can reach a speed of 0 to 60 miles per hour in about 9.5 seconds with a top speed of 115 miles per hour. But the new engine would be much more fuel efficient than the previous variants of the truck. The transmission has also been altered with 6 speed manual and automatic versions and would incorporate both rear wheel and all wheel drive according to the choice of the buyer. The truck is expected to be productive for both on road and off road drives.

Talking about the 2016 Toyota Hilux release date and price, it is expected to hit the roads at end of 2015 or early 2016. The price of the pick up truck is anticipated to be around $20,000 for the base model and up to $30,000 for the higher adaptations. This competitive price would give stiff competition to its peers like GMC Canyon, Chevy Colorado and Nissan Nivara which also fall in the same category. Therefore it would be exciting to see that the new Hilux would stand up to its name and be successful for the manufacturer as its predecessors. There are so many other questions which are still unanswered and we have to wait and see until the truck is plunged officially into the market.
